Dont be a Tosser Bin your Butts

'Dont be a Tosser Bin your Butts' campaign was used for the weeks leading up to the Smoking Ban in Victoria OZ. Found this and thought it was a good use of this 'dead space' we all keep talking about. It was to emphasise the ban and the disregarding of there butts. They collected all the butts in a 1km radius from Melbourne centre and then put them on one of the zebra crossings to emphasis there point further. Nothing like a literal approach to problems.

A clever idea. I have been really interested in this sort of advertising - using something less obvious than your usual billboard or tv ad. Having seen many interesting finds on other people's blogs, it seems that in some cases these forms of advertising have more impact and convey a stronger message than other more traditional forms of advertising as the location or medium further expresses and emphasize the messages.

I think its because they are literal, on a poster you can do or dream up anything but with the ambient media you have boundries but it's how far you push them...to see it live and in your world it makes it more real and the issue has more impact.

Its like at the moment i am reading Harry Potter and with a story you can dream up what you like and make it sound real, they have even taken it to film making it that bit more to closer existence but obviously it will never be real, but doing what you can to make it real has more of an impact on the audience because it is them a problem or situation.
