a world without advertising...

no if this did happen, im not sure where we would all go, but as yet were ok, except for Sao Paulo. They have had an advertising ban, its pretty interesting, looks bizarrely empty, but at the same time creates new art. Its like a new form of art, because depending when you view it it will change depending on time of day weather among other factors especially concerning the location below. I was reading about this ban in this months Creative Review. I agree with you, the fact that you look at the space in a different way......you are not forced to look at the billboard poster but instead look at the area through and around the bare metal frame. The empty billboards, frame certain areas which make people think for themselves as they can make their own work of art.

I was just looking at this in CR too, it's so weird. It puts a totally different spin on the world of advertising, as we're so used to being bombarded with it everywhere we turn!!!
